Thursday Stamping Club May Meeting Cards

 This months meeting focused on water coloring with markers.   We used the Aqua painters and the SU water color paper to do the focal piece.  As promised  here is the recipe for our cards.

This first card uses the On the Grow Stamp set from the Summer Mini Catalog stamped with STAZON black.  Then we water colored with Wild Wasabi for the grass and leaves;  Marina Mist and Bashful Blue for the jar and shadow; Pretty in Pink and Pink Pirquette for the flowers.  Then we added the tiny pearls from the SU Jewels.  This tiny pearl just makes the flowers pop.  The card is made with Baja Breeze DSP from the Subtle collection and Baja Breeze and Natural white card stock.  A little bow in the Baja Breeze Seam binding is added.  We embossed the lower half of the Natural White front to coordinate with the polka dot DSP  The Thursday Stampers all did a great job water coloring and made beautiful cards.

 We used the same water color techniques to do this second card with the butterfly and flower stamps from the Nature's Walk stamp set.  This card uses the Wild Wasabi DSP and card stock and ink; and Baja Breeze card stock and ink.   The butterfly details are colored with a little So Saffron, Baja Breeze, Marina Mist and outlined with Not Quite Navy.  A little Marina Mist was added for depth to the flowers too.  Every piece is sponged to add depth.

 This last card is a little different and uses the Bright Collection colors.  Daffodil Delight and Melon Mambo with the ribbon and buttons from the SAB catalog.  Recognize the card?  It is a case from the SAB catalog but different stamps.  This is the perfect card for a young person or friend.  Fun card to make.  Stamps used are the Happy Birthday stamp from the Something to Celebrate set, the top stamp in Daffodil Delight is from the Painted Petal set and the little heart is from the Build a Cupcake set.   All products used are from Stampin'UP!

Thursday Stamp club April Meeting

These are the three cards that we created in this months club meeting.  We focused on using DSP to make

cards more interesting.  We used Peach Parfait ink and card stock and the In Color DSP .  The green leaf part is Pear Pizzazz.  The Very Vanilla CS is embossed with the new embossing folder from the Summer Mini and then spritzed with Vanilla shimmer Smooch.  I just love these names.  The two flowers are also spritzed.   I wish the lovely pear like look of this card was more visible in the picture. The inside is shown on the right.

The next card uses the Good Friends Stamp set and the sentiment from the Watercolor Trio set.

 and the CS is Wild Wasabi and Very Vanilla with the So Saffron DSP from the Subtle collection. Stampin Dimensionals were used on the focal point and the sentiment to make them pop. Inside shown on the right.

 This nautical ;themed card on the left is a hybrid that I created using My Digital Studio to make the DSP, the flag, and the anchor.  The focal point is the Sail Away stamp set in the new summer mini.  The card shown on the left is the one we made Thursday using Marina Mist CS and the DSP in Marina Mist also from the Subtle collection.

C is for Cat

I made this card for my daughter who is cat sitting while we are visiting Florida.  I cased this card from one I saw on split coast by Heidi Baks at

Heidi's card uses Lovely as a tree stamp set with snow - but I am in Florida and did not bring that set.  The card has palm trees and a nice tropical feel. This card is stamped with Plant Hope and C is for Cat stamp sets - of course Sincere Salutations is the sentiment.  The sun is sponged with Daffodil Delight and More Mustard.  The background is sponged before stamping with blue and green ink.  The palm trees are stamped in Old Olive and Early Espresso.  The cat is Early Express with a Real Red colar and diamond jewel. Card stock is Crumb Cake, Early Espresso and Botanical Garden DSP.

Barbara's 411 Color Challenge

We needed a quick get well card for a  friend in Florida who developed pneumonia.  When I saw the color challenge this week - I thought it was perfect for a Florida guy.  I used a crumb cake base, chocolate chip and wild wasabi accents and the new DSP in the subtles collection -  certainly celery.  Love the new seam bindings that come in so many colors now.  They are so easy to use.  We hope Charlie will soon be back from the hospital and sitting under his palm trees.

Valentine Card for my three Grandsons

Finally today I finished three valentines for my three grandsons.  This is another card using the clear stamp block to stamp the Crumb Cake square.  I used the cupcake punch and stamp set from the new mini catalog. The colors used are Crumb Cake, Blushing Bride, and Cherry Cobbler stamped on Whisper White card stock. The cupcake is adhered to the stamped Crumb Cake square with stampin dimensionals. The Blushing Bride icing does not show up too well in this picture but it does look nice in real life. A little embossing on the icing looks great too. I think this looks like a masculine Valentine's Day Card.

Birthday card for a 9 year old boy!

We experimented with a technique in our watercolor class with things "outside the box" and of course I thought of doing a card using this technique.  This is the card I came up with for our grandson's birthday.  The stamp set is Make a Monster and the inks used are Tempting Turquoise, More Mustard, Cajun Craze, and Garden Green with just a touch of Real Red.   Add some google eyes and some spritz and buttons and the card is done.  Card stock is Pear Pizzazz, More Mustard, and Tempting Turquoise and most important - Watercolor paper.  It did take me three days though to get the little monsters just right -  but one of the last things I stamped was the eyes on the blue monster.  You can see that one of the eyes is not quite in the right place.    Any way, who knows what a monster is suppose to look like so that's the way I left him.  I had a ball making this card but it is definitely one of a kind.

Baha Breeze Build a Blossom card

This card is a take on the Tri-fold technique but I made this a 7 by 5 inch card and scored at 2 1/2 and turned the card around and scored at 2 1/2 on other side to make my 5 by 7 card.  Then I cut a center piece in Natural white and two layers of baha breeze embossed using the Vintage Wallpaper embossing  folder for the two sides. The blossom was stamped with Marina Mist ink on Baha Breeze card stock with the leave made by stamping Old Olive ink on Pear Pizzazz card stock - the same for the center piece.  Added a little Dazzling Diamond glitter on the flower, some sponging around the edges of the card, a beautiful Marina Mist satin Ribbon, a sentiment, and the card is finished.  The center piece is attached to the side with Stampin' Dimensionals.  I like the way this card turned out.

The Build a Blossom Stamp set and punch are so easy to work with and you can turn out beautiful flowers in just a few minutes. I hope you will try making this fun card.  The larger size makes this a spectacular card for a special some one's birthday.
