Priscilla's Stamping 411 Clean and Simple

When I received the Stamping 411 email with the CAS card by Robin Merriman I was just blown away with the elegance of the card but also the simplicity of the technique.  Since there were just a couple more Christmas cards that I needed to make I went right into my very messy craft room and made two CAS cards a Christmas card and a birthday card using Robin's technique.  Both cards use gold embosssing and gold smooch on the base card and Very Vanilla Card stock.  All supplies are SU except for the red berries which are made with red stickles.  I should have used SU red glitter since the stickles takes forever to dry and naturally I smudged some of the berries.

Thursday Stamping Club Christmas Party and Project

Our Thursday Stamp Club Christmas Party was actually a Christmas Tea.  After we made our little snowman card and our Luminere project we sat down and had a leisurely tea somewhat like I remember enjoying at the Empress Hotel in Victoria British Columbia with little smoked salmon, egg salad and ham and cheese tea sandwiches.  Of course we started with the Empress Hotel Champagne cocktail.  Then we finished with Christmas cookies and mulled cider.   It was a nicechange of pace to be able to just sit back and visit with everyone.   Here we are the Thursday Stamp Club.

Our Christmas project is a Luminere with a LED flickering tea light inside to light it.  The box is made with the SU Fancy Favor Die.  We made the flower the French Foliage small leaf with a center of the seven SU Basic Pearls.  The velum insert is stamped with snowflake and then glittered with Dazzling Diamond glitter.  And then a beautiful Real Red Satin ribbon just finishes it off.

The flickering tea light shows up nicely through the vellum.

Sandi MacIver inspired Clocks

A while back Sandi Mac Iver posted pictures of her "Alice in Wonderland" clocks and our talented new SU Demonstrator Claire cased them and made 5 of her own clocks.  Claire bought me my own clock kit and this is what I came up with for my clock.  As you can tell I definitely cased Sandi's idea.  Here is the url to Sandi's SplitCoast post:

I think my clock needs a little more bling but I can't think of what to add? Any suggestions would be welcome.

These are the five clocks that Claire made.  Aren't they just adorable.  The green clock is her New Hampshire clock and is decorated with pine cones and twigs - just perfect.

We used the SU Sense of Time set to make the clock faces.

Snowman Christmas Card

Here is the gorgeous birthday card that Barbara made for Harold's birthday.  I was blown away by the innovative design that she came up with for this card

Now I needed another card for the Thursday club so naturally I decided to case Barbara's card.
This is the card that we did not get a chance to do at our Thursday stamp club but never fear we will make this card next week.   My snowman card even uses the same ribbon as Barbara's card - Marina Mist satin.

The snowman card uses the little snowman from the jolly Old Saint Nick stamp set, the large scallop square from the scallop square Duo Bigz die cut in Marina Mist, a layer of Baha Breeze.
The snowman is stamped with Versa Mark ink and then embossed with silver embossing powder and colored with Stamp Write markers. Then of course a little sponging with Marina Mist. Can you see the spot of Pumpkin Pie for his carrot nose?

The left side is a piece of Baha Breeze embossed with the new Northern Flurry embossing folder.
The inside is a  layer of Candy Cane Christmas DSP and a snowflake with a "diamond" jewel.

I must say this little snowman is adorable.  Hope you all like the cards that Barbara and I made.

Thursday Stamping Club November Meeting

Here are some of the Thursday Stampers working around my dining room table. We made four cards this thursday that are posted below.  Two of our members were not able to be with us but not to worry they both either made or received their Novermber cards.  We had a lot of fun and everyone seemed to like the cards we made.  The cards that we made this month were all cased from 3 beautiful cards that I saw on line.
From left to right  - Gloria, Claire, Priscilla, Jeanne and Carol.  Suzanne and Terry were not able to come this thursday.  Next month we will meet on two Thurdays - December 2nd and December 9th.

This card was cased from a card I saw on line - I used different stamp sets, different technique, different ribbon and a different butterfly but definitely the same idea.  This is a link to the card that I cased http://wahoohaven.blogspot.com/2010/10/osc-photo-inspiration-dt-card.html so check out the beautiful original.  The stamp set I used is "Just Believe" and "For all You Do."  My version of the butterfly is one of the butterflies from the  "Beautiful Wings" Embosslit die that was made using a piece of card stock stamped with the solid stamp in the "For all You Do" stamp set.

This is another card that is cased from a card I saw in a video on the SU Demonstrator web site by paige Batten.  Check out her web site at http://www.paigebatten.com/.  The difference between my version and the original card is the sentiment stamp.  I love this card and it was a lot of fun to make. By the way no designer paper was involved in the making of this card.  The background piece was stamped using the Printed petal Stamp set.
This last card is a clean and simple design by Robin Merriman from the 411 Clean and Simple stamping section.  At our Thursday session some made it into a Thanksgiving card, some a birthday card and some just a thinking of you card.  I love Robin Merriman's idea for this versitle fall card.  One thing I had people do that were a little hesitant to do the free hand edge was to just put a dot at each corner and then connect the dots free hand.
The free hand edge in this picture looks green but it is really Soft Suede.
You can check out Robin Merriman's ideas for clean and simple cards at http://stamping411.blogspot.com/2010/10/clean-and-simple-stamping-wonderful-one.html.

So stampers I suggest that you check out all the ideas available on line to help you wto make your own beautiful creations.   Stamping is great fun!

Christmas Stamp a Stack

Here I am at Barbara's lovely home setting up for my two Santa cards.  For some reason we did not take any pictures of the event but trust me everyone seemed to have a lot of fun making their 12 Christmas cards.

This is one of the Santa cards that we made.  There is lots and lots of glitter on this Santa and he really sparkles. Santa's cheeks are colored with blushing bride and his face with blush blossosm.   Then he was cut out and his beard, hat, pompom and mustache are covered with Sparkling diamond glitter.

The diamond jewel in the center of the ornament just sparkles hanging from the Christmas tree made with the Tree stamp from the "Lovely as a Tree" stamp set.  The colors are Cherry cobbler and Always Artichoke.  I wish I could have taken a picture that made the diamond have just a little more sparkle.  (Notice that I am in to sparkle for  Christmas.)  The card stock is Natural White which is just perfect for this card.

This is an attempt at a clean and simple card.  It is made from one sheet and allowed many variations.  Holly was stamped at the top, berries added.  Then Playful Pieces hostess set was used for the ornaments.  The border is freehand.   It was fun to see the creativity of stampers - with holly sprigs in the corners and different color ornaments.

Then we tried a little whimsey with the perky penguin.  He is made from the owl punch (with ears trimmed off).  Extra eyeball punches created the thought process leading up to his greeting.   He needed a snowy perch - so torn paper and chunky glitter made a nice winter look.  If you look closely you can see the versamark snowflakes in the background.

We had a great time and ended up with 12 beautiful cards.  If we did that once a week - we would be all set for the holidays really early!

Priscilla's 411 Challenge 176

My SU order was delivered last week so for this weeks challenge I wanted to try out my new Hostess stamp set "Peaceful Season"  and my new "Deck the Halls" Designer Series Paper. So this is the card I made.  The card base is Cherry Cobbler card stock and of course I used my favorite Cherry Cobbler seam binding.  The Holly braches are cut out and two are adhered with Stampin Dimensionals.  All in all I think it came out quite nicely.  Hope you like it.

This is this weeks challenge sketch - check out the 411 site at http://stamping411.blogspot.com/ and see what the talented operators and others are doing with this sketch.
